Scaring Children
So Icka's walking through a park on my way to a bus stop and pass by kids about first grade being watched over by a teacher play on the swings and jungle gym. The teacher doesn't really notice, dealing with some rowdy boys, and Icka just keep walking.
Then there's a highpitched voice scolding "Get away from her!" and Icka glances over to see one girl reaching forward to touch the arm of a second girl, who was wandering in Icka's general direction.
Icka's wearing: boots, tan broomstickskirt with embrordered the bottom, heavy cotton black and white chinese shirt with patches for a jacket, green scarf that can't figure out what shade it is and an odd wool hat that my Grandmother brought back from Ireland, that reminds me of a jester cap with only one point. Or one donkey ear flapping in the wind. Which ever.
So... Icka looks strange. 2 reasons. One, it's comfortable. Two, it keeps the really weird people far away.
Icka's expecting to hear the whispered comments about strangers.
"Get away from her!! She's SMOKING!!" The last word is said like it's the most horrific thing in the entire world.
"...." Icka pauses, then pulls the lollipop she's sucking on out of her mouth. "Nope. Lollipop."
"...Oh." Face falls. Little girl backs up, eyes wide.
"Smart idea tho." Waves, keeps walking. "Have a good day."
Yup. That's me. Terrifying today's youth by sucking on lollipops.
